WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is set to return to the ring on November 23rd, at the MGM Grand Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His opponent will be a familiar face in Luis Ortiz. These two larger than life big men shared the ring one year ago in March at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York and produced a candidate for fight of the year.
During their first encounter Ortiz got off the deck in the fifth round to seriously hurt Wilder in the seventh. The WBC champ would bounce right back to go ahead and close the…

A Monster Invades The U.S. in 2020

By: Hans Themistode
A monster is a creature that is terrifying and frightening. Often times they are referred to as imaginary as well. It’s because what they are capable of doing reaches far beyond the limits of a normal human being.
In the case of unified Super Bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (19-0, 16 KOs), he has truly lived up to his moniker.

The 26 year old Japanese fighter has been nothing short of spectacular in his short career. In his first ten career contest, eight of them failed to go the distance. He continued his impressive performances with stoppage wins over Yoan…

Marcos Maidana Makes His Return To The Ring

By: Hans Themistode
It’s been a long time since anyone has seen former two division world champion Marcos Maidana. Five years to be exact.
Maidana had a very successful career that spanned a little over a decade. He’s shared the ring with some of the best fighters of his generation and also picked up some big wins along the way.

In 2009, he knocked out former champion Victor Ortiz to win the vacant WBA Super Lightweight title. He followed that up with impressive wins against DeMarcus Corley and Erik Morales. He did lose his fair share of fights as well as he…

Is It Too Early For a Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney Showdown?

By: Hans Themistode
The sport of boxing is somewhat like a waiting game isn’t it?
How many times have fans wanted to see certain matchups but were forced to wait? Too many times to remember.

Unlike other sports, boxing doesn’t have to capitulate to the demands of its fans. Take a sport such as basketball. The schedule dictates that everyone plays against one another. It doesn’t matter if you are ready or not. You are thrown into the fire immediately.
How about boxing’s closest sport of comparison? Mixed martial arts (MMA). For that form of combat, it doesn’t matter if a…

By: Hans Themistode
Lineal Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs) made his WWE debut at the Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 31st. He successfully defeated Braun Strowman in an entertaining matchup. Following his win, Fury made a few headlines by stating that he wanted to jump into mixed martial arts (MMA). He doesn’t want to simply join any organization either, he apparently has his eyes set on taking his talents to the UFC in the near future.
Too many times have we seen professional boxers put down the boxing gloves and step into the octagon. It isn’t hyperbole…

Herring Gets Past Roach In Fresno

By: Sean Crose
Fresno, California hosted Top Rank’s ESPN+ card on Saturday night. First up was a battle of heavyweight contenders. Kubrat Pulev, 27-1, stepped into the ring for a scheduled 10 rounder against the 26-2 Rydell Booker. Although the ESPN broadcast team pointed out Booker’s lack of conditioning, the veteran fighter had himself a solid first round. Pulev controlled the ring in the second. The European fighter began coming in strong behind his jab in the third.

Pulev continued to jab his way along through the fourth. Booker was looking completely ineffective. “He’s ready to quit,” Pulev’s trainer said in between rounds….

Floyd Mayweather vs Khabib Nurmagomedov Could Happen in 2020

By: Hans Themistode
It’s been quite some time since sure fire first ballot hall of famer Floyd Mayweather Jr has been seen in the ring. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been behind the scenes trying to make things happen.
This is apparently the case according to Abdulmanap, the father of UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
It was long thought that Mayweather would ride off into the sunset following his tenth round stoppage win over another UFC star in Conor McGregor, in 2017. That aforementioned contest reportedly netted Mayweather close to 300 million.
