Chelsea and Manchester City both are linked to Ben Chilwell. Leicester eye Arsenal man as a replacement.
Leicester City is in talks with Ben Chilwell over a new contract. Terms negotiation has opened even though his current deal has four years left. Leicester is reluctant to let him go. The club is currently trying to tie him down but if the right offer is in cards they will allow him to leave.
Chelsea gaffer Lampard has identified Chilwell as an ‘ideal signing’ to strengthen his problematic left-back position. Marcos Alonso has been criticized for a lack of consistency this season. On the other hand, Emerson Palmieri has failed to win over fans during his short spell at Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Mail claim that Lampard could sell Emerson this summer in order to fund a potential deal for Chilwell. Both Juventus and Napoli seem interested in Emerson as he has fallen behind Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order.
Manchester City boss Guardiola is also on the hunt for a left-back. It is so because of Benjamin Mendy’s injury problems over the past two seasons. Pep looks up to Chilwell too as per rumors gearing up for the summer transfer window.
Chilwell has become a key member of Brendan Rodgers’ squad competing for the Champions League spot. He has underlined his progress breaking into Gareth Southgate’s England set-up. The 23-year-old has made 118 appearances for the Foxes replacing Christian Fuchs from the starting XI throughout the 2016/17 campaign.
The Foxes believe they can receive around £60million for Chilwell, especially as there is competition for his signature. But Leicester could do a deal for the 23-year-old and have already lined up a replacement. Bleacher Report claims Leicester may form a reunion with Tierney if Ben Chilwell leaves the club to join either Chelsea or Manchester City.
Tierney: The man to replace Chilwell at Leicester
Tierney moved to Arsenal from Celtic where he had starred under current Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers. The 22-year-old won seven trophies under the Leicester boss before Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester.
A few months after Rodgers had moved from Celtic, Tierney also completed a £25million move to the London outfit. Yet a number of injuries have limited Tierney from playing on a regular basis for The Gunners. He featured just 11 times this season.
As for now, a dislocated shoulder is keeping Tierney on the sidelines. The former Celtic star, thus, has a little chance of breaking into the senior side. Also, with Sead Kolasinac and Bukayo Saka currently impressing ahead of him, the possibilities have diminished.
But if the Gunners are about to sell any full-back this summer, Sead Kolasinac should be picked instead. The Bosnian international is essentially always injured and is only a drain on wage funds since his arrival. From Arsenal’s perspective, selling him and keeping Tierney would be a much choice of business.
